7 SOUVENIRS FRAMES These frames propose a world tour in seven images. Each one sets a pose, a familiar gesture drawn from tourist photography, to be performed at home and then displayed. The destination fades, leaving only the posture and its repetition. Holding the Leaning Tower or kissing the Sphinx, out of context, becomes awkward, almost mechanical.
Like a set without a scene.

Close to Martin Parr’s gaze, these staged poses reveal both the absurdity of wanting to hold onto visible proofs of happiness. The frames create a subtle shift between image and setting, tracing a thin boundary between domestic space and the elsewhere.

The role of a « Marie-Louise » is to create a transition between the artwork and its frame, as these objects do, acting as a screen between the domestic space and travel. Here, the body performs the escape… without ever leaving the living room.
